It is with great enthusiasm that we announce the appointment of Prof. Dr. Eng. Rashid Abdelhaleem Saeed as the Editor-in-Chief of AI for Social Good (ASG). A globally recognized leader in communications and network engineering, Prof. Saeed brings decades of interdisciplinary research experience, academic leadership, and a profound commitment to advancing technological innovation to this role.

Core Research Philosophy & Mission

Guided by the principle that "technological progress thrives on integration, innovation, and real-world impact," Prof. Saeed's research philosophy centers on bridging theoretical breakthroughs with practical applications. His scientific goal is to drive advancements in wireless communications, network engineering, and emerging technologies (including 5G/6G, IoT, AI-enabled networks, and UAV systems) through rigorous experimentation, performance optimization, and cross-sector collaboration. He aims to illuminate the coevolution of technology and society, focusing on how advanced networks can address global challenges—from rural connectivity and disaster resilience to sustainable infrastructure and smart city development.

Research & Editorial Leadership

Prof. Saeed’s research portfolio encompasses over 300 publications—including journals, books, book chapters, and conference proceedings—focused on wireless networks, spectrum management, IoT security, and AI-driven communication systems. He has led 12+ funded research projects (totaling over 300K SAR) and supervised 50+ graduated postgraduate students (MSc/PhD) across institutions in Malaysia, Sudan, Saudi Arabia, and beyond.

With a strong commitment to academic service, he serves on the editorial boards of leading journals such as IEEE Open Journal of Signal Processing, Scientific African (Elsevier), and Journal of Convergence Information Technology. He has also chaired international conferences (e.g., EAI AFRICOMM 2022/2023) and contributed to national and global technology roadmaps, including Malaysia’s National Wireless Communications Technology Roadmap.
